SHAH ALAM: Entrepreneurs should be more proactive in collecting and capitalising on data to drive their business growth in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0), National Entrepreneurship Institute (Insken) CEO Muhd Firdaus Azharudin said today.
Pointing out that entrepreneurs can create their own database simply by using a pen and a notebook, he said: “Many entrepreneurs do not collect information such as their customers’ basic personal data – names, email addresses and phone numbers – and most importantly, why the customers chose to purchase the products.”
Such information is important as it will help entrepreneurs to create or improve products or services, identify their target market and determine how to conduct their sales promotions, Muhd Firdaus told the Insken Business Outreach 2020 here.
The programme was officiated by Selangor state entrepreneur and rural development, village and traditional village exco Rodziah Ismail. About 500 entrepreneurs took part in the one-day programme, which aimed to increase awareness on the importance of customer database and how to utilise it for business growth.
Muhd Firdaus said the programme will also be held in Penang (Feb 6), Kelantan (Feb 12), Sarawak (Feb 19), Johor Bahru (Feb 25), Kedah, (March 4), Sabah (March 12) and Kuala Terengganu (March 25).
“We will be working with federal and state government agencies on the programme, and we aim to train 3,500 entrepreneurs through it,” he added. – Jan 23, 2020, Bernama
