Netizens roast Hadi’s son-in-law for saying pardoning Najib is Islamic

STATING that former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is innocent and was wrongly condemned in the SRC International case and that it is Islamic to grant him pardon has gotten PAS leader Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang and his son-in-law Zaharuddin Muhammad, in hot waters on the internet.

For that reason, he said giving amnesty to Najib is the best way according to the Islamic perspective, but he did not explain what ‘Islamic’ edict or reasoning he is using to make such a statement.

“Wrongly acquitting the guilty is better than wrongfully punishing the innocent.

“So, between keeping Najib in prison and also releasing with amnesty, then releasing with amnesty is closer to the Islamic method,” he said in a video sent on his social media today.

Hadi’s son-in-law faced a backlash from netizens over his statement, with various critical comments flooding in.

Under Islamic law, Hudud crimes (apostasy, revolt against the ruler, theft, highway robbery, adultery, slander, and drinking alcohol) carry penalties that include the amputation of hands and feet, flogging, and death.

Najib was found guilty in the SRC International case and he lost his final appeal by 4-1 while last week (April 28) the Pardon Board did not deliberate on his application for pardon.

On the other hand, @MuhdFateh5 wants to know how the son-in-law of Hadi knew Najib was not guilty.
