POLYTECHNIC and community college students under the Higher Education Ministry (MOHE) along with matriculation students and those in teacher education institutes (IPG) under the Education Ministry (MOE) will receive subsidised airfare ticket purchases effective today.
The initiative initiated by the Transport Ministry (MOT) offers subsidised airfare for domestic routes between Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.
Eligible students, including those from polytechnics, community colleges, matriculation programmes, and teacher education institutes, can check their eligibility on the website until the academic session 2022/2023.
According to MOT, students can check their eligibility through https://subsidiudara.mot.gov.my/
“After checking, eligible students can apply for subsidised airfare ticket purchases from any airline company such as Malaysia Airlines (including MASwings and FireFly), AirAsia, Batik Air, and MYAirline that they choose,” said the ministry.
Upon approval, students will receive a digital voucher worth RM300 as a credit shell, applicable for flight ticket purchases. Any remaining balance in the voucher after the ticket purchase can be used for future travel until Dec 31, extending flexibility to the students.
However, purchasing flight tickets for travel after the voucher redemption deadline is still allowed.
Meanwhile, students deemed ineligible can appeal to the MOE or MOHE through their educational institutions.
The initiative not only serves as a cost-saving measure but also encourages stronger connections between regions, aligning with the government’s efforts to enhance national unity. – Oct 6, 2023
