A JOYFUL Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is joined by his deputy Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in celebrating the landslide BN win in the Sabah by-election yesterday, saying it is a show of public confidence and trust in the Madani government.
Anwar described BN’s victories in the Kinabatangan parliamentary and Lamag state by-elections as a reflection of public confidence in grassroots efforts, dedicated service, and strong commitment to the people.
In today’s Facebook post, Anwar said the BN wins should be seen as a public trust that demands responsible leadership with integrity, effective service, and consistent, inclusive attention to community needs.
“The MADANI government will continue to uphold the spirit of consensus and togetherness to ensure development in Sabah is strengthened, the people’s well-being is preserved, and the MADANI agenda can be realised with shared determination,” he said.
He emphasised that the wins carry a deep sense of responsibility, requiring leadership with integrity, effective delivery, and inclusive attention to community needs.
In a Facebook post, Ahmad Zahid viewed the results as proof of the people’s trust in leadership continuity and stability for the constituencies.
He stressed that the mandate demands full responsibility to sustain Bung Moktar’s lifelong focus on Kinabatangan and Lamag, and thanked the BN machinery and Sabah state government partners for their dedication in securing the wins.
“The wins of Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar in the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat and Mohd Ismail Ayob in the Lamag state seat are a tremendous trust to continue the service legacy of the late Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, who made Kinabatangan and Lamag central to his lifelong struggle,” he said.
In the Kinabatangan by-election, Mohd Kurniawan Naim won handsomely with a large majority of 14,214 votes, defeating his two challengers, Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman from Parti Warisan and Independent candidate Goldam Hamid.
In the Lamag state seat by-election, Mohd Ismail obtained a majority of 5,681 votes, defeating Mazliwati Abdul Malek from Warisan. —Jan 25, 2025
