A 54-year-old Greek woman has given birth to a baby girl from an embryo frozen for 22 years. The birth came months after losing her son in a road crash in October.
Cristina Rapti-Tzelepi delivered Georgia at a private clinic in Athens on Wednesday. The case has renewed debate over Greece’s legal age limit for in vitro fertilization, which is currently 54.
The parents said Friday that their daughter, who was named in honor of their late son, has brought new hope and joy to their family.—Sept 14, 2026
