MULTINATIONAL dairy product manufacturer Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd has appointed the second Malaysian woman in Ramjeet Kaur Virik as managing director with effect from July 2.
The first Malaysian woman to assume the post was Saw Chooi Lee from 2014 to 2017.
Ramjeet, 44, will succeed Tarang Gupta who will be appointed as managing director for the Philippines-based Alaska Milk Corporation, a subsidiary of FrieslandCampina effective Aug 1.
“Ramjeet 44, has more than 20 years of rich experience in the consumer marketing and business development, having held leadership positions in several multinational companies and is well suited to lead Dutch Lady Malaysia’s main goal of Nourishing the Nation,” the company noted.
She will also assume the role of executive director for Dutch Lady Malaysia on the company’s board by reporting to FrieslandCampina’s president of specialised nutrition (global) Berndt Kodden.
Ramjeet who is currently the marketing director (consumer dairy) for Dutch Lady Malaysia joined the company in 2011 as marketing manager for dairy-based beverages.
She subsequently moved to Indonesia in the same capacity for PT Frisian Flag Indonesia sweetened condensed milk category and later as international marketing manager based in Singapore.
In January 2018, Ramjeet was promoted as marketing director (consumer dairy) at Dutch Lady Malaysia where she led the portfolio and strengthened the division’s market position in past three years.
“Ramjeet will continue to build upon the exceptional leadership of Tarang who oversaw the strengthening of Dutch Lady Malaysia’s market position as the leading dairy company in Malaysia,” noted the company.
“(She will) further solidify ties with all stakeholders and business partners as well as drive future readiness with our milestone world-class RM400 mil manufacturing hub which is expected to be operational in 2023.” – June 16, 2021
