COVID-19 cases in Malaysia are still on the high side

MALAYSIA recorded 26,832 new COVID-19 cases as of Monday (Feb 21) morning, with 68 of them being imported cases.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country since the pandemic started now stands at 3,200,672.

The site also showed that 18,459 patients have recovered since yesterday (Feb 20), with a total of 2,937,655 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak began.

However, the nation’s hospitalisation rate climbed to 67%, with the intensive care units (ICUs) reaching 49% capacity.

Currently, 247 people are being treated in ICUs with 139 of them in need of ventilator support.

There were also 37 fatalities recorded with 10 patients brought in dead (BID), bringing the death toll to 32,347.

Meanwhile, the total number of active cases in the country now stands at 251,678, with 94.8% of them (238,620) are being subjected to home quarantine. – Feb 21, 2022
