HOME-GROWN sustainable solution specialist Open RE Sdn Bhd has found a partner in Taiwanese tech giant Advantech Co Ltd to support the development and market expansion of a BESS (battery energy storage system) Total Solution in Malaysia.
This follows the group’s signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOUs) with the global leader in IoT (Internet of Things) intelligent systems and embedded platforms on the opening day of the Advantech ASEAN Connect Conference 2026 (APC 2026) yesterday (April 2).
The event underscores the conference’s role in bringing together partners to accelerate industrial innovation across ASEAN through solutions that are ready for real market deployment.
The collaboration combines Advantech’s Edge AI and IoT hardware platforms with Open RE’s energy optimisation and right-sizing software to support battery storage monitoring, performance and lifecycle management.
The parties also intend to explore pilot projects, tenders and strategic energy programmes. The BESS solution is expected to deliver measurable energy cost optimization for industrial users while supporting Malaysia’s broader renewable energy and sustainability objectives.
Aside from Open RE, Advancetech also inked a total MOUs with three other regional tech players, namely Thailand’s Get On Technology Co Ltd and Qonnect (BIIC Co Ltd) as well as Australia’s Pacific Automation Pty Ltd.

Leveraging AI prowess
Together, the partnerships will support the roll-out of solutions in industrial networking, battery energy storage systems (BESS), industrial cellular router and CNC (computer numerical control)-related applications as well as predictive maintenance across selected regional markets.
Collectively, the three MOUs reflect a clear shift from technology development to execution, focusing on standardised, scalable solutions with immediate commercial application.
They also underscore Advantech’s push to shorten deployment timelines and translate AI capabilities into operational outcomes across industries.
“Across global industries, transformation today is increasingly defined by how effectively technology can be translated into solutions that are practical, repeatable and ready for deployment,” commented Advantech’s vice-president (IoT automation sector) Chingpo Lin.

“These MOUs reflect a strategic direction to work more closely with partners to support standardised solution development and stronger market readiness, thus helping industries apply AI and industrial intelligence in ways that deliver real operational value.”
Beyond the MOUs, the two-day APC 2026 serves as a dynamic platform for the AIoT (Artificial IoT) ecosystem.
It features executive keynotes, curated business matchmaking and an AI-powered WISE Co-Creation Solution Showcase highlighting innovations in smart manufacturing and energy transition.
Breaking from traditional conference formats, the event also includes Customer Onsite Testimonial Factory Tours at DUFU Technology and Multitrade Asiapac, thus offering attendees first-hand exposure to real-world Edge AI deployment scenarios.
Looking ahead, APC 2026 reflects Advantech’s continued focus on working closely with partners to translate industrial intelligence into scalable, market-ready solutions.
By leveraging its Edge computing platforms together with partners’ domain expertise, Advantech supports go-to-market execution and the replication of proven solution models across the region which enables industrial customers move from innovation to real-world deployment. – April 3, 2026
