SOME seemingly Madani government backers have hit out at UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Akmal Saleh for rashly calling on the party’s youth wing divisions across Perak to lodge police reports against the recent “massive China flag-waving” during a cultural possession in Teluk Intan.
The Merlimau state assemblyman’s selective issue mongering which is reminiscent of the KK Super Mart sock-gate incident in March where he demanded apology banners “to be hoisted at all 881 KK Mart stores nationwide within 48 hours” also smacks double standards as the waving of Palestinian flags has in fact become a common sight in Malaysia.
Editor’s Note: Below is a justification given by a pro-opposition keyboard warrior of why waving of Palestinian flags which is “in solidarity with a nation suppressed by the Zionist regime” is fine but not those of “communist” China.
This aside, some netizens are also aghast with the Melaka state EXCO for Rural Development, Agriculture and Food Security for being “dead silent” over the so-called out-of-the-blue “apology” by incarcerated former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak which is seen as a precursor to his house arrest or even full pardon.
“When things like this goes viral, he’s the fastest to turn hyper nationalistic, to turn most challenged blah blah blah …,” teased pro-Pakatan Harapan (PH) social media influencer JOKER🔺(@tjerealjoker) in a post on the X platform.
Bakal ketua pemuda Bersatu Pundak Nasional dan calon kerusi Parlimen di Melaka dah bersuara gais ‼️🤣🤣
Bila benda macam ni kuar, dia ni memang terpaling laju.. terpaling Melayu.. terpaling tercabar bla bla bla…

“Akmal … this is already too obvious, bro. People are getting bored already 😆”
This is where some commenters further ticked off the Russia-trained medical doctor for his selectiveness of issues, notably those which can gain him political mileage.
One commenter even reminded him that “it’s still very early to accuse and allege” especially when the event organiser has sought forgiveness.
For the record, the Guan Gong Cultural Association of Malaysia has apologised to all Malaysians for the incident involving the waving of China flags during the International Guan Gong Cultural Festival in Teluk Intan on Thursday (Oct 24) night.
Its chairman Soon Boon Hua said the act of waving the flag of another country was never planned in the existing programme itinerary prepared by the organisers.
Meanwhile, the police had taken statements from those involved in the China flag-waiving incident with Perak police chief Comm Datuk Azizi Mat Aris confirming that the event organiser and 17 Chinese nationals were among those called to record their statements.
“There had been claims that there were also other flags being displayed,” he told a media conference after attending a state police contingent-held nasyid contest at the state secretariat building in Ipoh last night (Oct 25).
Below are the brickbats hurled at Akmal for not touching on the Najib’s ‘insincere’ apology – something which does not wash with many Malaysians who wish to know who is going to pay for the 1MDB scandal. – Oct 26, 2024
