Bursa rejects Berjaya Media’s application for delayed annual report

BURSA Malaysia has rejected the application of Berjaya Media Bhd (BMedia) for an extension of time for the latter to issue its annual report.

BMedia, via a Bursa filing dated July 2, confirmed that the bourse, in a letter dated July 1, had rejected the application for BMedia to receive a month’s extension to Sept 30 for its annual report.

The rationale behind the application was that the Covid-19 outbreak and the movement control order (MCO) had disrupted operations and the finalisation of the results of the company’s fourth quarter, which had ended April 30.

BMedia had also applied for a six-week deadline extension up to Aug 15 to announce its fourth quarter results, but the bourse instead approved an extension of time of one month, until July 21, for the announcement of the results.

The last traded price for BMedia was 10.5 sen on March 23, when it was suspended following its failure to submit a regularisation plan to exit PN17 status, despite Berjaya group tycoon Vincent Tan’s attempt to rescue the media company with his private vehicle, Singer. – July 2, 2020
