COVID-19 cases dipped in the country as the authorities detected 19,807 infections today, bringing the cumulative total to 1,555,093.
In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 18,200 patients have been cured, with the total discharged now stands at 1,278,670.
“Two-hundred and thirty-two people have died today, bringing the tally to 14,168,” he added.
Selangor recorded the highest number of fresh cases with 5,379, followed by Sabah (2,638), Kedah (1,948) and Sarawak (1,772).
“Of the current active cases, 1,026 patients are still receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 496 of them in need of ventilator support,” he remarked. – Aug 22, 2021.
