THE number of new COVID-19 cases is back on the high side, standing at 22,597 on Saturday (Aug 28) with a record-breaking number of casualties.
A total of 252 deaths were recorded within the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number to 15,802.
Selangor continues to register the highest number of infections in one state (5,814), with Sabah closing in at 2,834, Sarawak with 2,427 and Kedah at 2,162.
As for the number of recoveries today, 19,492 patients were discharged (total 1,401,160).
Out of the 268,548 active COVID-19 cases, 986 of the patients are in intensive care units and 451 in need of ventilator support. – Aug 28, 2021
