COVID-19: Klang Valley below 8k cases for 2nd day, 293 deaths

THE Health Ministry (MOH) has reported 19,631 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative total to 1,444,270.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also reported that 16,468 patients have recovered from the infection, with the total discharged now stands at 1,179,046.

Currently, there are 252,147 active cases, in which 1,054 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 525 of them in need of ventilator support.

Dr Noor Hisham also announced that 293 people have succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 13,077.

Selangor continues to record the highest number of cases (5,753), followed by Sabah (2,103), Kedah (1,863) and Kuala Lumpur (1,765). – Aug 17, 2021
