COVID-19: New cases soar as public apathy becomes an issue

THE Health Ministry (MOH) recorded 1,767 new infections as of 12pm today, with the total number of those infected now at 363,940.

As for recovery, the MOH said that a total of 1,290 people have recovered to date, bringing the tally to 346,295.

“However, 12 people died today, bringing the death toll to 1,345,” said MOH director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, in a tweet.

All who perished were locals.

On related matter, Noor Hisham announced that his ministry has detected nine new clusters in the country.

Four of them are workplace related, three community based and one detention centre and religious establishment each.  

“With that, we have 344 active clusters. Ten clusters have ended today. Three clusters that contributed to the high number of cases today are Persiaran Cybersouth construction site (137), Jalan Puncak Borneo (60) and Jalan Bambangan (47),” he remarked. – April 13, 2021.
