Gerakan claims DAP grassroots unhappy over outsider Pang as KKB candidate

GERAKAN president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau claimed that DAP’s grassroots were not satisfied with the candidate put forward by the unity government because she is not a local, adding that the matter was voiced by pro-Pakatan Harapan (PH) grassroots voters during Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) campaign in Kuala Kubu Bharu.

He was speaking of PH candidate Pang Sock Tao who is the former press secretary to the Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.

“We got feedback from the grassroots and also from DAP members themselves. They are not satisfied with the candidate this time because it is not the (selected) candidate they want other than local children, but (selected) from the centre.

“I don’t know the (local) problem, I don’t even know the road. How to solve the issues in Kuala Kubu Bharu,” he said a local Malay news portal.

The DAP members who spoke to the opposition parties said there must be a wake-up call for the government, with the people suffering. He added that this by-election is a referendum against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“Win or lose, the state government does not change. Give the referendum to PMX (Anwar) that the people are having a hard time and do not want to support the current government.

“Such things were also expressed by DAP supporters and members to us,” he added. – May 4, 2024
