Hamzah warns Anwar ‘flip-flop’ could hurt investment

LARUT MP Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin cautioned Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that he should not “flip flop” on his statements as it could affect foreign investments into the country.“Tomorrow he announces a policy to help the people, but the day after that, he says he never said that. In the end, the investors will leave Malaysia,” said Hamzah in a statement. He also told the government not to blame the opposition if these investors ran away from the country.Hamzah’s statement came after Anwar’s Tuesday (June 13) intervention in the Dewan Rakyat when he said that he had no issue with flip-flopping on public policies if these decisions helped the people. After the government decided to continue providing subsidies for chicken and eggs, as well as to uphold the scholarships offered by the public services department (JPA) for students pursuing medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy, Anwar responded to Tanjung Karang-PN MP Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi’s claim of his inconsistency regarding these matters. Moreover, Anwar clarified in the Dewan Rakyat that discontinuing the JPA scholarship was a decision made in the past and not a recent change. He further stated that under his leadership, the unity government conducted a special meeting with the department last week, resulting in the decision to maintain the scholarships. – June 17, 2023
