Helping others with money from one’s own pocket

KEPONG MP Lim Lip Eng released a statement just moments ago, announcing his plans to lend a hand to citizens in Kepong who are in desperate need of help using his three-month MP allowance.

Unlike other ministers and deputy ministers, Lim stated that he refuses to allow the money to be cut and placed into a special account and is committed to helping those in the area, especially the ones whose employment are affected due to the lockdown.

“I would not allow my MP allowance to be cut and be put into any special account as done by the ministers and deputy ministers. I will keep my allowance so that I can personally allocate the allowance to underprivileged communities battling the COVID-19 outbreak in Kepong,” he mentioned in the statement.

“I understand that a lot of individuals have been losing their jobs and businesses are severely affected, especially with the FMCO in place.

“To those in Kepong who are really in a hard place, do not hesitate to contact me. We will review every application we receive and we will prioritise those who are in dire need of help. To those receiving, we will provide three months of financial help,” he concluded. – June 4, 2021
