Hope Najib is paying you guys well too, Kadir jests at ex-PM’s cyber troopers

FORMER Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia leader A Kadir Jasin mocked ex-prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s cyber troopers, asking them whether are they getting paid well enough to carry out their work.

He made the query following expose that Najib had hired New York based public relations (PR) firm Karv Communications for US$140,000 (RM585,760) to “represent” him in the US media.

“If he can pay nearly RM600,000 for two months work, I won’t be surprised if he is paying local PR firms and his cyber troopers well too.

“I’m not sure whether those handling his cyber trooper are being paid well but I think their ‘commandos’ are getting peanuts,” he claimed in a Facebook post.

Earlier today, The Vibes reported that Najib appointed Karv Communications following damaging revelations being made in the US court involving former Goldman Sachs banker Roger Ng, over his involvement in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal.

According to documents filed with the Justice Department yesterday, American new site Politico reported that Karv Communications will serve as a subcontractor to Najib’s lawyer, Tania Scivetti, for an initial period of two months.

Deep pockets

The firm’s spokesperson told the news site that Karv is hired “to help ensure Najib’s actions and views are understood by US journalists and presented accurately in any US media coverage – including during the trial of Ng currently underway in the Eastern District of New York”.

According to its website, Karv Communications describes itself as a “globally recognised strategic communications firm specialising in sophisticated corporate and financial communications, crisis and personal reputation management, litigation support and public affairs”.

Touching on the matter, Kadir said that it was obvious that Najib has deep pockets, given that his tax payment itself came to RM1.69 bil.

“Not only has he hired one the best local legal team to defend him but Najib had also instructed his lead counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah to hire a Queen’s Council to represent him during his appeal at the Federal Court,” he concluded. – March 10, 2022
