ONE-STOP sustainable energy & engineering solutions specialist Kinergy Advancement Bhd (KAB) (formerly Kejuruteraan Asastera Bhd) has today (July 1) unveiled a strategic collaboration with Johor Corp (JCorp) which is the principal development institution driving the Johor state’s economic growth.
The collaboration sealed through its wholly owned subsidiary KAB Energy Holdings Sdn Bhd formalises the 2024 Asia-Pacific (APAC) region’s top energy sustainability solutions provider as JCorp’s partner in advancing Malaysia’s sustainable energy landscape with opportunities to develop customised energy efficient (EE) projects for data centres.
Additionally, opportunities also abound in the sphere of renewable energy (RE), clean energy (CE) initiatives for energy-related facilities and engineering projects primarily for data centres or other related facilities under JCorp.
Under the collaboration, KAB will leverage its expertise to provide energy efficiency solutions with a particular focus on developing district cooling systems to greatly reduce the overall energy consumption of data centers while enhancing their PUE (power usage effectiveness).
In so doing, the group has to demonstrate its enhanced engineering capabilities and competence through the EPCC (engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning) development of data centres and/or other energy-related facilities.
“By having JCorp as our new partner, our confidence in driving substantial and transformative impacts has greatly increased,” commented KAB’s executive deputy chairman and group managing director Datuk Lai Keng Onn.
“I am thankful to have earned the trust from leading businesses to collaborate closely in not only setting but also achieving targets for the growth of our nation’s economic and environmental goals.”
Aside from the data centre-related focus, KAB’s technical proficiency in RE and CE solutions will also extend to other initiatives within JCorp.
The promotion of RE export through third-party access (TPA) programmes or other RE schemes will be further pursued to supply RE to the Johor state principal development institution and its related business, thus supporting them in meeting and achieving their sustainability goals.
JCorp’s president and chief executive Datuk Syed Mohamed Syed Ibrahim stressed the critical importance of finding the right partner to enhance the efficiency of the group’s existing assets and new projects.
“As JCorp sets clear sustainability goals at the state and national levels, this marks significant progress in our sustainable efforts through innovative energy solutions,” he envisages.
“KAB has demonstrated its capabilities to deliver innovative energy solutions, hence we’re confident that this strategic partnership will support us in achieving our sustainability goals. We expect this collaboration to yield lasting impacts across all our joint undertakings and developments”.
At 10.30am, KAB was unchanged at 37 sen with 386,300 shares traded, thus valuing the company at RM735 mil. – July 1, 2024
