COVID-19: 732 new cases and six deaths

THE Health Ministry today reported 732 new COVID-19 cases and six deaths as of 12pm today.

In a press conference, the ministry’s director general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that 580 patients have recovered from the coronavirus as well.

“Therefore, the total cases of COVID-19 in the country is at 22,957. The total recovery cases now stand at 14,931.

“With six deaths recorded today, the total number of those who have lost their lives to COVID-19 is now at 199,” he added.

On related matter, Media Prima Group said that one of its staff from Sistem Televisyen Malaysia Berhad (STMB) has been tested positive for COVID-19 and is now warded at a government hospital.

“The employee’s family member had been in close contact with a positive COVID-19 colleague at work and has undergone the mandatory COVID-19 tests administered by the Health Ministry.

“The affected STMB employee had undertaken the COVID-19 test after experiencing symptoms two days ago and was confirmed positive this morning,” it said.

“We will provide all necessary support to the affected staff. In response to the government’s work from home order for non-critical staff starting tomorrow, only selected employees will be allowed to work from our premises.

“And we will make all the necessary arrangement to ensure the selected employees undergo swab tests,” it added.
