Pansar completes Phase 1 of vaccination centre project within a week

SIBU (Sarawak)-based Pansar Bhd has completed the first phase 1 of its Industry Vaccination Centre project at University College of Technology Sarawak (PPVIN-UCTS) in its capacity as the main coordinator after only seven days or three days ahead of schedule.

The PPVIN-UCTS was formed by bringing together over 100 local companies – both large and small – to pool resources under one roof to create a unified PPVIN.

It was made possible with close coordination between the Sarawak COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force, ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd, Pansar, Klinik Medical SEGi as the partner healthcare organiser and UCTS.

Such concept is intended to intensify and speed up the vaccination programme by allowing companies to ensure that all their employees, tenants, and business partners are vaccinated together.

A total of 17,335 participants signed up to be vaccinated at PPVIN-UCTS, of which 13,648 signed up for Phase 1 and a further 3,687 for Phase 2.

In addition, approval for the PPVIN to be expanded to a Mobile PPVIN is underway. Sign-ups are only done through companies whereby no walk-ins or individual sign-ups are accepted.

“We would like to take the opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks to the business community in Sibu which came together to speed up the vaccination rate and to protect their employees, and the Government which was open to this novel concept of a unified PPVIN,” commented a Pansar spokesperson.

“We especially wish to thank Klinik Medical SEGi which generously provided the medical manpower and UCTS which allowed us to use their facility.

“Of particular note, the frontliners and volunteers who worked tirelessly at PPVIN-UCTS are critical to stop this virus in its tracks. Without the cooperation of all involved, the vaccination could not have proceeded at such a rapid pace.”

Of note, PPVIN-UCTS started with an initial target of vaccinating 1,000 persons per day. Thanks to close cooperation between all parties, the rated capacity was ramped up to 2,000 persons per day.

Since July 2 PPVIN-UCTS has been operating at a rate of around 2,400 vaccinations per day.

Pansar which is celebrating its 60th anniversary is primarily involved in infrastructure construction and provision of engineered solutions for customers in the building and construction, marine and industrial, heavy equipment, agricultural, and electrical and office automation industries.

At 12.10pm, Pansar was down 0.5 sen or 0.79% to 63 sen with 64,300 shares traded, thus valuing the company at RM292 mil. – July 6, 2021
