In the case of social media deviant, Alice Chang, it is just downright perplexing.
If you have not already heard, seen or read about the Alice, she is the twin sister of Adeline, with the Chang siblings gaining notoriety for the social media antics. Adeline is well-known for trying to scam e-hailing drivers out of their full fares.
Alice shot to infamy when images of her kissing pretzel dough at Aunty Anne’s outlet in MidValley went viral. She has then been reportedly to be in and out of jobs since being terminated by Aunty Anne’s with trouble seemingly following her everywhere.
Incredibly, the latest episode in the Alice Chang saga is that she has quit her job in an Indian boutique after just a single day’s employment, alluding to the fact that her pay does not commensurate with her growing social media popularity.
The most recent instalment was shared on the X platform by UpdateInfo (@update11111) who was dumbfounded by Alice’s claim that her ever-increasing “fame” on social media required her to re-align her financial goals.

Quite a few netizens shared the poster’s sense of befuddlement.
With a few, again, asking if the entire Chang clan were social misfits.
One commenter pointed out that such frequent changing of jobs will surely lead to a dead end when no employer is willing to give Alice another opportunity at gainful employment.
Another said it would be alright if Alice had built a solid reputation based on good deeds.
However, one netizen saw it as an opportunistic marketing ploy by the boutique who probably knew full well that Alice was not going to be in it for the long haul.
With Deepavali just round the corner, what better way to raise the profile of the Indian clothing store by riding on Alice’s social media coattails.
It does seem like a cynical and calculated attempt at gaining online infamy by Alice. Maybe she was inspired by Paris Hilton’s leaked sex tape that saw the hotel heiress launch lucrative careers in reality TV, pop music and as a cosmetics and fashion entrepreneur.
The difference is Paris – unlike Alice – is loaded and doesn’t really need to work.
