THE founder of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT), Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing, breathed his last at the Pantai Hospital earlier today.
The deceased was 75 years old.
His death came just one week after Lim was admitted due to complications suffered from falling down at his home.
The hospital has yet to announce the cause of his death.
According to The Vibes, Lim’s wake will be held on Thursday (2pm to 8pm), and Friday (10.30am to 2pm), at Hall 5, Nirvana 2 Kuala Lumpur in Jalan Dewan Bahasa, Bukit Seputeh.
Last week, rumours were spreading that Lim had passed on after a fall in his house but LUCT then dismissed the speculation outright.
The flamboyant Lim started his career as a cartoonist, penning comic strips for ABU, which was ran by the now defunct Eastern Sun newspaper.
He later dabbled in advertising and five years later, Lim established his own company called Wings Creative Consultants in 1975.
Three years on, Wings Creative became one of the top agencies in Malaysia and partnered with a top global giant creative agency company, BBDO.
Lim then ventured into education and established the Limkokwing Institute of Creative Technology. It was renamed LUCT after it was recognised as a university by the Government.
Lim has partnered LUCT with many varsities across Asia, Europe and Africa and was credited as a prominent critic of the apartheid system practiced in South Africa before it was abolished in 1994. – June 1, 2021.
