PAS MEMBER Datuk Zaid Ibrahim has urged the party to follow in the footsteps of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, by supporting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
On Thursday (Oct 29), Syed Saddiq, six Bersatu MPs, and six independent MPs signed a Confidence and Supply Agreement (CSA) with the Madani Government.
According to Zaid, although Muhyiddin and Syed Saddiq had previously criticised Anwar, both are now believed to realise that the PKR President has the potential to maintain victory in the 16th General Election.
“Congratulations to Muhyiddin and Syed Saddiq for supporting Anwar. Supporting the ‘winner’ is a wise decision. I hope my party (PAS) can join and support Anwar as well. However, PAS prefers the ‘student’ (Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) to the ‘teacher’ (Anwar).
“No need to think twice; the teacher is always the better choice over the student,” he said in The Zaid Ibrahim Podcast.
Through the signing of the CSA at Parliament, all MPs involved also called for the implementation of institutional reforms as well as equal constituency development allocations matching those of government MPs.
The CSA is not limited to the 13 MPs concerned; instead, the door for discussion remains open to any other elected representatives, said Unity Government spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
He stated that the signing of the understanding document represents a positive shift towards national political stability and strengthens the commitment to driving the institutional reform agenda.
“This is a positive development for the country’s political stability and reflects a shared spirit in carrying out several institutional reform efforts.
“The act of signing the MOU or CSA is not restricted to these 13 MPs alone and is open to any MP who wishes to come, discuss, and sign the CSA.
“Thus, the door for discussion remains open,” he said during a post-Cabinet meeting press conference on Friday (Oct 30). — Oct 31, 2026
