ZICO Trust Malaysia appoints Datuk Mazlan Ahmad as independent non-executive director

ZICO Trust (M) Berhad has appointed Datuk Dr Mazlan Ahmad as a non-executive independent director, effective Sept 23.

Mazlan brings experience in corporate leadership, governance, institutional advisory and academia. He is a Chartered Accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), a Chartered Secretary with the Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA), and a Chartered Governance Professional with the Chartered Governance Institute.

He currently serves as an EXCO Council Member of both MIA and MAICSA, with his work including areas related to public integrity.

His advisory and review experience includes work involving the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) and Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), as well as the Special Taskforce for the Corruption Perception Index.

ZICO Trust Malaysia said the appointment supports its efforts to strengthen Board stewardship, governance and institutional oversight as it continues to develop its trust and fiduciary services.

ZICO Trust Malaysia managing director Jeevan M. Sundaram said Mazlan’s experience in institutions focused on integrity, accountability and governance would support the company’s responsibilities to clients.

“Datuk Dr Mazlan has spent much of his career working within institutions that uphold integrity, accountability and strong standards of governance,” he remarked.

“These principles are equally fundamental to the trust industry, where families place their assets with us on the strength of standards they may never see applied themselves.

“His experience will help us continue to uphold those standards and strengthen the trust placed in ZICO Trust Malaysia.”

Mazlan said he was honoured to join the Board and looked forward to contributing his experience in governance and institutional oversight.

“A trust company is entrusted with responsibilities that can extend well beyond the present, and that places particular importance on how it is governed and how carefully it is held to account,” he stated.

Beyond his professional and institutional roles, Mazlan is founder of Masyi Group of Companies and has experience across various business sectors.

He is also Deputy Executive Chairman of Yayasan Waqaf Pendidikan Anak-Anak Yatim Miskin Malaysia (YAWATIM), a waqf foundation supporting the education of orphaned and underprivileged children.

In academia, Mazlan serves as Professor of Practice at INCEIF University and Adjunct Professor at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). ‒ Oct 1, 2026
