Bursa Malaysia remains mixed at mid-afternoon

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia remained mixed at mid-afternoon today (Feb 05) on continued mild profit-taking in selected heavyweights including in finance and healthcare-related stocks, analysts said. At 3.12pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 0.65 point easier at 1,535.15 from Tuesday’s close of 1,535.80.The benchmark index opened 3.84 points higher at 1,539.64.

On the broader market, gainers led losers 410 to 363, with 376 counters unchanged, 828 untraded and 21 others suspended.

Turnover amounted to 2.02 billion shares worth RM1.45 bil.

Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd said as lower liners and broader market shares head higher, it could entice more retail players to undertake bargain-hunting activities, but the general market undertone will still be dictated by any major developments in the 2019 novel coronavirus outbreak.

Among heavyweights, Malaysia Airports gained 17 sen to RM6.97, Kuala Lumpur Kepong advanced 46 sen to RM23.34, Sime Darby rose four sen to RM2.19, while Top Glove shed 10 sen to RM5.60 and Hap Seng eased 15 sen to RM9.32.

Maybank declined three sen to RM8.37 and Public Bank lost 16 sen to RM18.04.

Of the actives, AirAsia Group recovered three sen to RM1.18, Impiana Hotels added half-a-sen to 3.5 sen and XDL eased half-a-sen to 15 sen.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index increased 14.68 points to 10,917.51, the FBM Emas Shariah Index rose 30.76 points to 11,655.11 and the FBMT 100 Index improved 10.84 points to 10,727.44.

The FBM 70 was 76.97 points better at 13,662.43 and the FBM Ace recovered 23.69 points to 5,379.69.

Sector-wise, the Industrial Products and Services Index went down 0.03 point to 144.30, the Financial Services Index was 5.56 points lower at 14,677.16 and the Plantation Index increased 65.36 points to 7,210.15. – Feb 05, 2020, Bernama.
