COVID-19: 649 new cases, no deaths today

THE Health Ministry today reported 649 new COVID-19 cases and no casualties as of 12pm today.

In his daily press briefing, the ministry’s director general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that Malaysia recorded 685 recoveries.

“Therefore, the total cases of COVID-19 in the country is at 30,090. The total recovery cases now stand at 19,757.

“With no deaths recorded, the total number of those who have lost their lives to COVID-19 still stands at 246,” he said.

On related matter, Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the police have arrested 549 individuals yesterday for breaching the movement control order (MCO) in places across the nation.

“From the total, 547 individuals were issued compounds while the remaining two were remanded,” said the Bera MP.

He added the individuals were nabbed for offences such not wearing face masks, failure to provide details for contact tracing registration, failure to practice social distancing and operating businesses beyond the permitted hours.

“We deployed 3,116 compliance task force teams to conduct checks on 16,196 supermarkets, restaurants, hawker stalls, factories, banks, government offices, as well as land, water and air transport terminals,” said Ismail. – Oct 29, 2020
