By Emmanuel Samarathisa

DR Sukudhew (Sukhdave) Singh has stepped down as a director of sovereign wealth fund Khazanah Nasional Bhd effective Jan 1.

“We thank Dr Sukhdave for his commitment and contributions to Khazanah since his appointment to the board in 2018, and we wish him the very best for the future,” Khazanah said in a Jan 3 statement.

On July 31, 2018, the Prime Minister’s Office appointed Sukhdave to the Khazanah board together with the appointment of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as chairman.

Sukhdave made headlines for stepping down as Bank Negara Malaysia deputy governor on Nov 28, 2017, after 31 years of service with the central bank. Tan Sri Muhammad Ibrahim was then BNM governor. – Jan 3, 2020
