Pertama Digital to harness innovative partnerships for MyDIGITAL’s success

THE private sector is indeed encouraged by the opportunity to collaborate with the Government to ensure the aspirations of the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint (MyDIGITAL) are met.

Pertama Digital Bhd (previously Sinotop Holdings Bhd) executive director Sabri Abdul Rahman lauded the Government’s initiative and clear roadmap for the digital transformation of Malaysia to become a regional leader in the digital economy as well as to achieve inclusive, responsible, balanced and sustainable socio-economic development.

“While it is important that the Government acknowledges the importance of driving economic growth and the nation’s competitiveness in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), the next crucial step is for immediate solutions to be brought forward via innovative people-private-public partnerships,” he pointed out.

According to Sabri, a significant portion of the blueprint is in sync with Pertama Digital’s business plans.

The company currently owns and operates eJamin – a digital bail payment solution used in all criminal courts throughout Malaysia as well as MyPay – a mobile application for secure, easy and fast check-and-pay transactions with government agencies.

Unveiled by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today, the MyDIGITAL initiative is expected to create 500,000 jobs in the digital economy while contributing 22.6% to the Malaysia’s gross domestic product (GDP) by 2025.

MyDIGITAL, which sets out a combination of initiatives and targets across three phases of implementation until 2030, would also complement national development policies such as the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) and Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 (WKB 2030).

With the support of the public agencies, Sabri shared that moving forward, Pertama Digital intends to loop all government digital initiatives into its plan by being a strong advocate to implement the action plans as entailed in the MyDIGITAL blueprint.

“We will be relevant to national objectives as long as we can propose innovative yet risk-managed solutions to the market, coupled with strong executive capabilities,” he suggested.

“There are people with limited digital skills who will face challenges plugging into the new digital economy, and Pertama Digital’s main objective has always been to identify and help this segment of the community.” – Feb 19, 2021
