TAN SRI Azam Baki, head honcho of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), has told mainstream daily Berita Harian that Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will be charged in court tomorrow (March 10).
The statement also confirmed that the Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman and Pagoh MP who turned up at the MACC headquarters (HQ) in Putrajaya for his statement to be taken at 11am today will not be brought to court today.
“He (Muhyiddin) is expected to be charged tomorrow. Not today,” Azam who is the MACC’s chief commissioner told Berita Harian. MACC is expected to issue an official statement in the due course.
Muhyiddin was seen arriving at the MACC’s HQ at 11.18am to give evidence believed to be related to the case of misappropriation of government funds or the Jana Wibawa programme or the Program Jana Ekonomi Pemerkasaan Kontraktor Bumiputera Berwibawa.
Meanwhile, Bersatu secretary general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin reiterated that Muhyiddin had previously declared himself innocent of the Jana Wibawa embezzlement charges.
“Based on previous discussions, he expressed his belief that he is innocent,” he told reporters after Muhyiddin entered the MACC Headquarters building, today.
Meanwhile, there was a sea of PN supporters who turned out at the vicinity of the MACC HQ in what could be summed up as “solidarity for TS Muhyiddin”.
Earlier today, FocusM highlighted that out-on-bail PN-slant political observer Mohamad Shafiq Abdul Halim has mooted “mobilisation of a nationwide machinery to protest the arrest of Muhyiddin” who goes by the moniker ‘Abah’ to his supporters. – March 9, 2023
