Security guard’s death: Stay calm and let justice prevail, PKR says

BE transparent and ensure a fair investigation is conducted into the death of security guard Thava Sagayam.

“My deepest condolences to the family of the deceased. I urge the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure justice is served.

“Not only the murder was linked to the involvement a political party’s youth member but also concerns but also the mental health of people, which could drive someone to act irrationally,” Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak said, in a statement.

On Dec 29, Noor Azhar Muhmmad assaulted the 64-year-old security guard, who served at a condominium located in Ipoh, Perak.

The accused attacked the senior citizen using a table after the latter refused to allow the former’s child from using the swimming pool, which was closed at the time.

Azhar was subsequently charged under Section 335 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt, which carries a punishment of up to seven years in prison and a fine.

However, Perak police chief Mior Faridalathrash announced yesterday that they have reclassified the case as murder, following Thava Sagayam’s death on Aug 27.

On that note, Farhash urged the public to stop sharing the video showcasing the assault, to respect the sensitivity of Thava Sagayam’s family.

“The violet act must be condemned, but at the same time, the public must also respect the legal process and give the authorities time to investigate.

“At a time when the nation is facing numerous challenges, it is important for everyone to remain united and help one another in every way possible,” he remarked. – Aug 31, 2021.
