PRO-Pakatan Harapan (PH) backers have trolled so-called political analyst Rizuan Ahamad who criticised the upcoming second anniversary celebration of the Madani government at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on Nov 22 to 24.
Rizuan who was the private secretary of UMNO outcast Khairy Jamaluddin (KJ) when the latter was the science, technology and innovation minister (prior to assuming the health minister portfolio) has deemed the proposed celebration as “a waste, political in nature and not beneficial to the people”.
Above all else, Rizuan further stated that organising such a celebration is against the principles of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who is not fond of wasting government funds.

“Ideally, the funds should be better channelled to needy Malaysians through programmes that are more beneficial rather than staging a one-off celebration which is not even a national event’,” opined Rizuan in a tweet by Keluar Sekejap (@keluarsekejap) (podcast co-hosted by KJ).
Recall that Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil had informed that the venue of the Madani government’s second anniversary celebration has been re-located from the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) to the KLCC due to location and space factors.
A few commenters ticked off Rizuan for his close association with KJ with one describing him as “being butthurt because his boss’s technique of becoming a snake has failed to materialise”.
Some hit out at KJ for wastage incurred from expired COVID-19 vaccine, alluding to the fact that the cost of commemorating the Madani government’s second anniversary would only be a faction of the spoilt vaccine.
On the other side of the divide, opponents to the event wondered if the event is necessary “as if this will be PMX’s final year in power” or worse still, “they (PH) haven’t won enough seats, need to merge with BN (Barisan Nasional) yet busy wanting to celebrate”.
Others contended that staging the event is tantamount to failure of the Madani government “to walk the talk” given that PMX has been keenly advocating the dire need to curb wastages and leakages.
Henceforth, it is more significant if the money is used “to fund youngsters who want to open burger stalls, sell catfish/tilapia with simple business grants of RM 4k-RM5k each”.
One commenter reminded PMX “not to waste money as the rakyat are still going through hardship” while another suggested “to forget the fanfare but suffice everyone hold prayer sessions in accordance with their respective faith”.
At the end of the day, one sharp tongued opposing view described staging of the second anniversary event amid “the rakyat enduring misery of sorts” as both “a shameless joke” and “hypocrisy that has reached the point of nausea”. – Nov 11, 2024
